If you checked out my video on insurance for live events and were wondering what the hell I was talking about when I mentioned occupiers liability insurance, then this brief explanation should help shed a little light on the matter...
Occupiers liability insurance is very similar to public liability insurance except the type of things that it might cover are more tailor to venue owners as in the context of business insurance, occupiers’ liability insurance is a way of referring to insurance that covers the occupier of a business premises for injury or damage claims made against them (Simply Business, 2019).
It is unlikely as a promoter that you will need occupiers liability insurance, unless you own the venue that you are hosting the event in and therefore provided you have general public liability insurance you should be okay. However, if it is your venue that you are hosting the event in then this is definitely something that you should look into as it might give you broader protection for your building as well as yourself.
